Overseas Filipinos and migration stakeholders in 4 Countries and 7 provinces to participate in a project to Mobilize Migrant Resources for Agriculture Development
Overseas Filipinos and families together with government, NGOs and private sector in Italy, UAE, Qatar and Singapore and Batangas, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Tarlac, Ifugao, Misamis Oriental and Agusan del Sur in the Philippines will participate in a project aimed at mobilising migrant re-sources towards agriculture development. The project is implemented by Atikha in partnership with Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP)and supported by International Fund for Agriculture Development Financing Facility for Remittance (IFAD FFR).
This project is going to scale up the successful initiatives of Atikha in mobilising migrant resources towards the number one agri-based cooperative in the Philippines , the Soro-soro Ibaba Develop-ment Cooperative. This time the project will involve more cooperatives and other rural financial institutions and implemented in more countries and provinces.
The project aim to reach 150,000 overseas Filipinos and mobilize $10 M dollar of investment to-wards agriculture development through the Pinoy Worldwide Initiative for Investment Savings and Entrepreneurship ( Pinoy WISE) financial education campaign in the provinces and abroad.
It will also link overseas Filipinos to investment, business opportunities and services through the Pi-noy WISE Overseas Filipino Market Place Events abroad and in the Philippines. The project will promote investment in agri-business, eco/agro-tourism and renewable energy among overseas Fili-pinos and families.
