The Batang Atikha Savers Club was organized on August 2003. The club was borne out of an exchange of ideas among children of OFWs. A child member explained why they established the club: “We realized that we could do a lot to show our appreciation of our parents’ work and sacrifices. We now understand that we have to value our money.
We used to be carefree, now we understand the value of discipline and saving money. That is why we did not have any second thought in joining the Batang Atikha Savers Club. We felt that we, members of the Batang Atikha Savers Club, are lucky because we have found the key to our success in the future.” To date, there are 270 children-members of the club. Seven chapters have already been established, four in Mabini and three in San Pablo City. Last December 2003, the club conducted its First Annual Congress in Nagcarlan, Laguna.
